Detailed Description
08:30 – Depart from Barcelona
You’ll meet your guide at our central office and depart by minivan, heading into the scenic Catalan countryside. Relax as you pass rolling hills and farmland on the 1.5-hour journey north.
10:00 – Guided Walking Tour of Besalú
Arrive in the perfectly preserved medieval village of Besalú. You’ll take a walking tour through its arcaded streets and ancient bridges. Visit a 12th-century mikveh (Jewish ritual bath) and see the remains of a medieval synagogue. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore the village, take photos, or enjoy a coffee in a quiet square.
12:15 – Scenic Drive Past Castellfollit de la Roca
Continue by minivan, passing Castellfollit de la Roca, one of the smallest towns in Catalonia, perched dramatically on the edge of a basalt cliff.
13:00 – Free Time in Rupit
Spend two hours in the village of Rupit, known for its cobblestone streets, wooden suspension bridge, and 16th-century stone houses. You’ll have time to visit the Baroque Church of Sant Miquel, explore the Castle of Rupit, and enjoy lunch at your own expense in one of the village’s traditional Catalan restaurants. With this extended stop, you’ll have ample opportunity to wander, relax, and soak in the peaceful setting.
15:00 – Drive to Tavertet via Cingles de Tavertet Cliffs
Travel through a dramatic landscape of sandstone cliffs, megalithic tombs, and ancient Iberian ruins as you ascend to Tavertet.
