Your Game of Thrones day starts at 9.00am in our main office opposite the famous Palau de la Musica. While you wait for your tour to begin, you can get in the mood by watching some video clips of the actual show filmed in Girona, alongside some photographs taken during the filming. Your guide will explain the main sites and locations you will visit, as well as the schedule for the day.
The drive to Girona takes just over an hour, and on the way your guide will tell you all about the history of this medieval town, and tell you some interesting stories about the actual filming in the town.
Once you arrive in Girona, you will be taken on a comprehensive tour of all the main film locations, and you'll be able to stand on the exact same spots as your favourite characters. With the help of photographs taken during the shooting, we'll try to build a picture of what filming was like, and how it transformed the town of Girona into King's Landing!
After about one and a half hours, we will take a break and treat you to specially made local icecream, created in honour of Game of Thrones, and call "The King's Hand".
You will now have about an hour of free time to explore other parts of medieval Girona on your own. Explore the Roman Walls, discover the Jewish Call, and soak up the atmosphere of the beautifully preserved medieval jewel.
At around 1pm, we will meet for lunch in a traditional medieval restaurant.
After lunch at around 2.30pm, we will head to a carefully preserved medieval village. After an hour long guided visit, we will head back to Barcelona arriving between 5 and 6pm.

Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain from Barcelona

Visit Spain, France, and Andorra in one unforgettable day — medieval villages, authentic French mountain culture, and two full hours to explore one of Europe's best-kept secrets. All in a small group from Barcelona.

Explore Three Countries in One Day

Where else in Europe can you cross three international borders in a single day? This is the original Barcelona day trip — Spain, France, and Andorra — and we've just made it better.

Depart early from Barcelona and head north through the dramatic Pyrenees. Then on to La Tour de Querol, a quiet French village with deep historical roots and a story your guide will bring to life. From there, the road climbs to 2,408 metres over the highest paved pass in the Pyrenees — a climb that has featured in the Tour de France — before dropping down into Andorra la Vella, where you have two full hours to explore, shop, or simply take in one of Europe's most spectacular mountain capitals.

And here's what makes this day genuinely unique: you don't just pass through Andorra — you drive across the entire country, entering from France on one side and exiting into Spain on the other. Tour Summary - Capture the heart of Catalunya on this day tour to the iconic Montserrat and it's Royal Basilica, experience a traditional three course lunch, and finish the day enjoying some sparkle in the rural wine and cava cellars of Pares Balta. The day starts with a morning visit to Montserrat where you’ll explore the monastic centre of Catalonia, home to the famous black virgin & la Escolania (children’s boy choir). You’ll also have time to explore the magnificent natural park & mountains with spectacular views over the plains of Catalonia. After lunch, you’ll be transported through the back roads to the wine country, where you’ll visit the renowned local winery, Pares Balta for a tour in their vast underground cellars followed by a tasting of the famous Cava 'champagne'. Full Tour Description A day tour from Barcelona to Montserrat is a must for the majority of visitors to Barcelona. It's probably the one place that they have heard all about before they arrive. The advantage of taking one of our small group day tours from Barcelona is that we can avoid the crowds and stay well clear of the other larger tour operators. Our day starts at 8.15am from our office opposite the Palau de la Musica building. From here, the journey to Montserrat takes us about an hour or so. One of the main reasons people book with us is that they want the intimacy of a small group, but like to have somebody there to explain things. Keeping to our philosophy of giving you plenty of free time to explore on your own, but guiding you in the right direction, the first thing we do on arrival is explain the various options. A visit to the sanctuary where the ‘Moreneta’ is housed is a must. The sanctuary has been in use for almost 1000 years for those pilgrims and other visitors who have climbed this spectacular mountain. Besides the cultural possibilities, there are numerous walks around Montserrat, ranging from easy strolls to serious hikes. Each trail offers a different perspective on the stunning views over the surrounding landscape, many of which are peppered with small chapels and hermitages. You'll easily find a route to suit your taste and energy levels. But whether they're fairly strenuous treks or gentle walks, they all give you fantastic views to marvel at the unspoiled beauty of this protected natural park. If you'd rather not walk at all, then another option is to take one of the two rack railways, or the cable car, offering yet more views of the area. After a morning in Montserrat, we will head down the mountain and into the heart of the wine country. We will take you to a beautiful old farmhouse, set right in the heart of vineyards. The restaurant we have chosen serves delicious traditional seasonal dishes. After lunch, we head to Penedès, home to the famous Cava champagne and, in particularly, home to Pares Balta where we'll visit their vast underground wine cellars. Pares Balta is situated in the Penedès wine-growing region, which boasts one of the widest varieties of grape of any wine-growing region in the world. The tour is a great chance to see exactly how the famous sparkling wine is produced, from the first pressing of the grapes to the second fermentation in the vast expanse of cellars. Of course, no winery visit would be complete without a taste of the stuff! At the den of the tour you'll get the chance to try some of the best Cava the region produces. We leave the winery at around 5:30pm, returning to Barcelona around 6:30pm.

Girona & Costa Brava Small Group Day Tour from Barcelona
Highlights:
- Personalized small group and commentary
- Expert English-speaking guide
- Transported by air-conditioned coach
Travel back in time as you get lost in the medieval city of Girona, before discovering the rugged and unspoiled beauty of the Costa Brava. Journey to the Costa Brava and visit the colourful Roman city of Girona, a melting pot of cultures. Explore the winding medieval streets of the Jewish quarter, walk along the Roman wall that surrounds the old town, or discover the Arab Baths. Afterwards, we visit the pristine mediaeval village of Pals before heading down the coastal route to admire the breath-taking sea-views, cliffs and coves of the Costa Brava. We stop in Calella de Palafrugell where you can walk around the rocky coast, sunbathe and swim, or visit the botanical gardens set on the cliff tops of Cap Roig.
Full tour description: The tour leaves Barcelona from our city centre office opposite the famous Palau de la Musica monment at 8:30am and heads straight up to Girona, a well-established city that has survived many a siege in the course of its long history, since its founding in around 76 BC. It has been dominated by many different people, and, as a result, has a great richness of architectural heritage. The Cathedral, founded in 1038 on the site of a former Mosque, and the spectacular Roman walls, along which you can walk, are just two examples of this. There are a wide variety of museums and sites of historical interest in Girona, such as the Jewish Call and the Arab Bath house. If you prefer, the narrow streets of the old town are very pleasant just to wander around, indulge in a spot of window-shopping, or find a secluded café and sit back to watch people pass by. From Girona, the tour heads to the impossibly charming Pals, a small medieval village that grew out of what was once a fortress. The name of the city comes from palus, the Latin word for marshlands, as this is what the fortress used to be surrounded by. More recently, the town’s beach became famous as the location of the masts for Radio Liberty, a US radio station used to broadcast pro-capitalist programmes into the Eastern bloc during the cold war; the masts can still be seen. From Pals, we head to the fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. This delightful escape has whitewashed houses that reach right down to the sea-front and a number of traditional restaurants - perfect for a leisurely lunch. You can also explore the rocky coastline, take a dip in the inviting waters, or follow the coastline round to the beautiful cliff-top botanic gardens at Cap Roig. If the Costa Brava is what really appeals to you, then take a look at our Dalà Day Tour, which reaches even deeper into the Costa Brava. From Calella de Palafrugell we will return to Barcelona, arriving at 7pm.

- Cosmopolitan Sitges' beaches, cafes and boutiques
- Professional English-speaking guide

Mix ancient Roman Tarragona with the cosmopolitan seaside town of Sitges. Travel back in time and retrace the footsteps of Roman gladiators. Stand on the very spot where chariots raced by, walk across the magnificent Roman aqueduct, and stroll around the ‘Old Quarter’ with its stunning cathedral. Then visit Roc de Sant Gaieta, a tiny Mediterranean village with its mix of Ibizan fishermen’s houses, Seville-style patios, and Roman-Greco influence. Finally, you travel to Sitges to discover the Mediterranean atmosphere of this old fisherman’s village with its shady streets, traditional houses, beaches, bars and restaurants. Full tour description:
The tour leaves Barcelona from our city centre office opposite the famous Palau de la Musica monument at 8:30am. Leaving Barcelona, we head south past Tarragona to our first stop of the day, the breathtaking 2,000 year old Roman aqueduct, known locally as ‘El Pont del Diable’ (The Devil’s Bridge). This perfectly preserved piece of ancient Roman history is hardly ever visited by tourists, but often leaves more of an impression on our visitors than any of our other tours. Over 200 metres long and nearly 30 metres high, it is one of the hidden jewels of the area. This is a rare chance to get completely off the beaten track and visit one of the most amazing architectural wonders of Catalunya - and one that hardly anybody knows about. From the aqueduct we travel back to Tarragona, the ancient Roman capital of the Iberian Peninsula, quietly entering the old part of the city through a narrow gateway in the old Roman walls. Starting at the Archaeological Walkway, you will be able to admire the surviving stone walls, wander through the historic old quarter - passing the medieval hospital - before stopping at the cathedral where you can enjoy the Sunday morning antique market. Few tourists ever make it to Tarragona, and fewer still stumble across this traditional market. It’s a great chance to pick up something truly unique from the area. For others, there is ample time to explore the beautiful cathedral that looks down on the antique collectors. From there, you continue down through the old town to discover the Roman Forum and the nearby Roman Circus hidden amidst the urban design. Walk along the underground passageways that held the Circus’ stands and come to one of the most popular squares within the old town: Plaça de la Font, situated inside the Roman Circus. If you stand very still and close your eyes, you can almost hear the chariots racing by. On this very spot, thousands of years ago on, perhaps on the very same day of the week, the Roman capital of the Iberian Peninsula came alive in all of its bloody glory. And last, but certainly not least, enjoy the breathtaking sea-view over the Roman amphitheatre and imagine gladiators battling each other to the death! It’s a poignant moment to stand on the same dusty ground that bore witness to countless scenes of sacrifice and passion. If you enjoy visiting old mediaeval towns, then you might also be interested in our Girona & Costa Brava Day Tour and thePyrenees Mountain Day Tour, both of which visit two of the best 'old' towns in the region. At 12:30pm we leave Tarragona for Sitges. On route, we stop briefly at Roc de Sant Gaieta, an intimate little village built on the rocky shoreline. Stroll between its tiny white houses and let your imagination take you away to Ibiza fishing villages built with a touch of Roman-Greco flair. We arrive in Sitges at 2:00pm, in perfect time for lunch. This once quiet fishing village today boasts a long and sandy beach, groovy boutiques, and a handful of interesting sights. Sitges has been fashionable since the 1890s, when it became an avant-garde art-world hang-out. Get lost in its shady side streets and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere with its old whitewashed fisherman’s houses. After a leisurely lunch you might want to head off to one of the seventeen beaches the town has to offer. We meet again at 6pm and return to Barcelona for around 7pm.

Wine & Cava Small Group Day Tour
Highlights:
- 10.5-hour cava and wine tour from Barcelona
- Enjoy guided tours of three of the best wineries in the Penedés region
- Learn about the complex process of producing wine
- Visit a family-run winery and discover the traditional method of making cava (Spanish sparkling wine)
- Sample several types of wine and cava at each winery (included)
- Small-group tour provides a more personal experience with your guide
A memorable day visiting three very different wineries showcasing the very best of Catalan wine. From one of the biggest and most iconic wineries in the region to one of the best sparkling wine producers in the world and finally to a tiny family winery working hard to make delicious organic wines, you will spend an unforgettable day in the very heart of the Penedes wine region, one of the most hidden jewels in Catalunya.
Full tour description:
We will start our tour at one of the most famous, and in fact the very first, cava producer in the region: the family winery of Codorniu. The reputation of this centuries-old wine maker both in in Spain and around the world shows the quality of their wine. You'll learn all about the cava making process, and even stand in the very room deep underground where the very first bottle of cava was made over 150 years ago! One of the barrels still has bullet holes made by some careless soldiers from the civil war! Part of the experience is visiting the actual winery buildings, which are a jewel of the Modernist industrial architecture. During this first visit, you'll be able to see the latest technological innovations in wine making combined with the oldest tradition of cava making. At the end of the visit, you will, of course, get to sample some of their most emblematic wines. From here we travel back to the past and a time when every step, every detail was done by hand. At this winery, quality and the utmost respect for tradition matter most. The result is a beautifully aged cava considered by the experts to be one of the best sparkling wines in Spain. They are proud to keep the true artisan process alive and limit the use of machinery in their wine making. Everybody working in the winery is directly or indirectly related to the family. For lunch we will take you to the local village where there are a number of lunch options. Although most famous for its cava, Penedes is far more than cava . This is what we will show you in the afternoon by visiting an organic winery specialising in white and red still wine. At this family winery, they produce excellent red wines made with Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Garnatxa or Cabernet Sauvignon, demonstrating that the climate and the soil of Penedes can make wonderfull still wines. This might be the last stop of the day, but be prepared to samplea variety of wines including red, white, rosé,and of, course, Cava. We arrive back in Barcelona at around 7pm.

On this small-group tour, you will receive personalized attention from your tour guide. Full Description
Meet your guide in central Barcelona, relax on board a comfortable minivan and take in views of the Catalan countryside on your way to Montserrat, the craggy mountain that rises above the region. Stop in a charming village, famous for cattle raising and cheese making, and visit a beautifully restored medieval farmhouse to sample local cheese and wine. As you savor your tasting, admire views of your backdrop – the north face of Montserrat. Continue to Santa CecÃlia, a former Benedictine monastery that is today a mountain shelter and a great example of early Catalan Romanesque architecture. Enjoy a short stop here to learn interesting facts about the history of the region, as how the monks influenced the farming and the gastronomic traditions. As you listen to your guide, sample locally grown treats like almonds, peaches, honey or home-cured meats, depending on the season. Next, relax on the drive around Montserrat and discover the south face of the mountain, which has a different climate and landscape from the north side, making it ideal for olive trees and vines. Get closer to nature as you leave your minivan and follow your guide through a path between fields of olive trees. Arrive at a 16th-century farmhouse, originally the property of the Monastery of Montserrat. Visit the farmhouse's old olive mill and the medieval water tanks, and learn about olive oil pressing and the different types of olive oil. Sample some of these, then enjoy a traditional lunch of products grown at the farm (upgrade your experience by traveling on a Sunday, where the menu features typical local Catalan dishes) After lunch, head to the Penedés, a vibrant wine region known for its production of cava (Catalan sparkling wine). Stop at a local winery, where you will learn how cava is made on a guided tour of the winery's underground cellars and barreling room, and finish with a tasting of four different types of cava and wine. Then sit comfortably in your minivan and admire views of the landscape on your way back to Barcelona.
